Chicken Palak is a delicious and healthy Indian curry made with spinach and chicken. This recipe is perfect for those who are looking for a nutritious meal that is easy to make. Here is a step-by-step guide to making Chicken Palak:

Ingredients:

  • 500 grams boneless chicken pieces
  • 1 bunch fresh spinach leaves
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 2-3 green chillies, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste
  • 2-3 tablespoons oil or ghee
  • 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1 teaspoon coriander powder
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Water, as needed

Step by Step Recipe to Prepare Chicken Palak

Step 1: Clean the spinach leaves thoroughly and chop them finely. You can also blanch the spinach in boiling water for 1-2 minutes and then puree it in a blender for a smooth consistency.

Step 2: Heat oil or ghee in a deep pan or kadhai over medium-high heat. Add cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Step 3: Add finely chopped onions and green chillies to the pan and sauté them until the onions turn golden brown.

Step 4: Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for 1-2 minutes until the raw smell disappears.

Step 5: Add the boneless chicken pieces to the pan and cook until they are browned on all sides.

Step 6: Add the coriander powder, garam masala powder, turmeric powder and salt to the pan and mix well.

Step 7: Add a cup of water to the pan and let it simmer for 5-7 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.

Step 8: Add the chopped spinach leaves to the pan and mix well. If you have pureed the spinach, add it now and mix well.

Step 9: Let the chicken and spinach mixture simmer for another 5-7 minutes until the spinach is cooked and the gravy thickens.

Step 10: Adjust the seasoning and consistency of the gravy as needed. You can add more water if the gravy is too thick or cook it for a few more minutes if it is too thin.

Step 11: Once the chicken palak is cooked, turn off the heat and let it sit for a few minutes.

Step 12: Serve hot with steamed rice, naan or roti.

This Chicken Palak recipe is easy to make and packed with nutrients. The spinach adds a lovely green colour to the curry and provides a good dose of iron, while the chicken adds protein. You can adjust the spiciness of the curry by adding more or less green chillies, and the consistency of the gravy to your liking. Enjoy your delicious and healthy Chicken Palak!
